Greener Landfills? (March 10, 2007)

Check out A Greener Shade of Blue, a celebration of the UB’s commitment to environmental research, education, and outreach. As part of these events, Dr. Craig Benson , from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will give an April 13 lecture entitled: Are bioreactor landfills a sustainable solid waste management strategy?


Raghu opts for sunshine (March 1, 2007)

Ragavendra Suribhatla (Raghu) is now a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Arizona, working with Professor Jim Yeh on projects related to hydraulic tomography


Matt Becker receives Fulbright Fellowship (February 1, 2007)

Dr. Matt Becker, Associate Professor of Geology, has received a prestigious Fulbright Scholar award for 2006 – 2007. Matt will lecture and conduct research in the area of hydrogeophysics at the University of Trento in Trento, Italy. Click here for more information


Will Shawn find decent beer in Georgia? (November 1, 2006)

A million year model? (September 9, 2006)

Dr. Alan Rabideau is serving on the MODFLOW Technical Review Group as part of the Tank Closure and Waste Management Environmental Impact Statement for the Hanford nuclear facility. The need to develop groundwater models for a million-year decision horizon, combined with the 400+ Washington State wineries, suggests that this may be a long-term project!


Jankovic wins Young Investigator Award (September 1, 2006)

Dr. Igor Jankovic, Associate Professor of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering, received the University at Buffalo 2006 Young Investigator Award in recognition of his research accomplishments. Congratulations, Igor!


Tracy Bank joins the GRG (August 15, 2006)

The Groundwater Research Group is pleased to welcome Dr. Tracy Bank, who has joined UB as Assistant Professor of Geology. Dr. Bank’s research focuses on mineral-microbe interactions, including the fate and transport of toxic metal contaminants in natural porous media and the adhesion of environmentally important bacterial cells to mineral surfaces. Doug Flewelling now at University of Redlands (August 1, 2006)
